Excerpt from The Season’s Not Over

Below is an excerpt from my youth sports novel, The Season’s Not Over, which any grade school-aged reader and fan of baseball will love.

“Guys, no one likes to lose. We lost this one as a team, just like we’ve won six as a team. But there are a few things to remember. We’re still in first place. Next game we’ve got Chase up on the mound. And if anyone had asked us before the season started if we’d like to be 6-2 at this point, all of us probably would have said ‘yes’. So I’m counting on you to keep your chins up and be ready to come out to practice Tuesday like winners.”

Coach Haffner said “no thanks” to the soda and snack Terry’s mom had brought and didn’t stay very long after the game. He spoke to Eddie’s dad, and a few others, then he and Ben headed to the parking lot. No one was in a very good mood.
