Below is an excerpt from Him, my newest novel narrated by the good dog, Scout. If you love dogs, pick up your copy here.
There is a person who gave me breakfast and did not say anything to me or any of the other dogs when he filled our bowls. He put too much water in my bowl. If you try to fill a bowl too high, some is going to spill out anyway. On the walk, he only took me to the hard part to go potty and when I pulled to try to go to the grass he said, “No,” and tugged my leash.
Another person has brought breakfast as well. She was nice but not as nice as Zoey. She called me “Good boy,” but her food did not taste very good, and our walk was not very long. She looked at the small rectangle in her hand instead of me. I have had lots of breakfasts since the delicious one with Zoey. I always think about her when I eat them, to improve the taste.
