Below is an excerpt from my youth sport novel, Hanging In There, which you can pick up on Amazon. Any youngster who loves baseball will love this book!
The coach had Carter and Ted line up at second, while Pete and Christina were at short. Gregg jogged over and stood at first. Coach Arnold told everyone he wanted them to take it to first, and then they were going to work on double plays.
Here came the nerves again. After everything Ted had gone through, it was all coming down to this next hour or so to impress the coach enough to be invited on to his team.
Ted and Christina both waited and let the other two go first. The first ball hit to Pete was a sharp two-hopper in the hole. Pete ranged over, snared it and planted to throw. The ball smacked into Coach Gregg’s mitt at first. What a great play.
“Nice grab!” Ted blurted out.
Pete looked surprised that Ted had complimented him. “Thanks,” he mumbled.
