This past weekend, a neighbor who had recently ordered my novel, Him, but had not yet read it, said his young grade school-age daughter was interested and asked if I’d recommend her reading it. I let him know that, while there was nothing inappropriate, it would be over her head and she would lose interest. I recommended instead one of my youth sports novels, specifically Hanging In There, which is a story about a boy and girl trying to live their dreams of playing baseball.
