Below is another excerpt from my novel, Him, told from the point of view of the good dog, Scout.
Then, I think Brutus gets tired because I hear him walk away, drink a lot of water, and make a groan as he plops down. But I believe it is a happy groan since I am happy too. I would like to play with Brutus outside, on grass. But first I need to escape so I can find Him. Then I can show Him where Brutus lives and see if He will take Brutus home with us to play. I don’t know if I want Brutus to live with us because I like having Him all to myself. And Brutus might take my Spot. But Brutus is certainly welcome to visit anytime.
