Excerpt from Hanging in There

Below is an excerpt from my youth baseball novel, Hanging in There, which you can order on Amazon.

Gary found out what Ted had to do to register and got Ted in the correct line. Then Gary walked onto the field and shook hands and spoke with several of the men on the field. He saw Gary point towards him and watched as the men all nodded. Then Gary shook a few hands again and came back over.

“What was all that about?” Ted asked.

“I just told them that you had a Major League contract with the Yankees but if they had enough money you’d play for them instead,” Gary replied.

“Yeah, sure. No really, what did you say to them?”

“I just let them know that even though you didn’t play Youth League that you’d really been working hard and were good enough to play here. I just asked them to give you the same look as everyone else.”

“Thanks,” Ted said to his brother.
