Excerpt from Time for Willy

If your kids love soccer, they’ll love my youth sports novel, Time for Willy. Below is an excerpt:

The day ended on a positive note, however because Sam, Kyle and the rest of his friends had a great game againstthe Dolphins. Everyone got to play, the parents cheered encouragingly if someone made a mistake, and, as Sam had suspected, the Breakers easily handled them 5-2. Sam scored a goal and had two assists to Kyle. Sam and Kyle did a chest bump whenever one of them scored a goal and it always cracked them up.

After the game one of the player’s parents brought snack of Gatorade and ice cream bars. The Dolphins actually hadn’t been that bad, but Coach Tyler was really getting the Breakers to come together as a team. We’re good, Sam thought, but we’re just a rec team. There’s no way we could be good enough to get to the championship of county-cup, is there? Sam didn’t want to think about it, but he couldn’t get it out of his mind. Anyway, he thought, it’s a long way off. Anything can happen between now and then.

Sam didn’t know how right he was.
